Most down this way will be familiar with the Matchams motorsport site along side the spur road to Bournemouth. Caught a news item in the paper today and how about this for a little payback!

Seems the site owners have been plagued by noise complaints from their off-road courses so they have announced a withdrawal of a previous planning application for 40 luxury houses (seems we are going to lose the site whatever happens) and announced their intention to apply for either:

Wait for it.....

A 100 pitch Travellers Camp OR a Prison.

Perhaps the residents might have preferred a few off-roaders having a bit of harmless fun in hind sight!  Laughing

Spent many a night racing and watching, down there, great fun . It's a shame they fell out with Spedeworth, it's pretty dire down there now by all accounts. I knew they had the Karts and bike courses, but didn't realise about the 4x4's. I would have thought the noise issue would be from the racing more than anything. Bags of room, there has been planning issues there for years, bit always declined due to being SSSI, if I recall.

Isnt matchams still heaving though? When i lived that way it was the in place to be! Be a shame to see it go mind! Annoying really that new house planning can get rid of an attraction thats been there since god only knows when!
