I also got one from Euro ropes with hard eyes, about 10 tons but a monster all the same. Good service and the product is OK.
Please note, the 21.5 tons are only for L***R****s 'cos they always get well stuck!! _________________ 1999 Cougar with a NICE motor..

Just been to collect my rope as i work along the road from where the company is based.
It looks inpressive but i am surprised at how lite it is. The bloke at the store asked what was using it for and told him it was to pull land rovers out of mud, he said it would pull the QE2 out. |

My recomendation with any rope is to be sure your recovery points are up to the job. The front recovery hooks are rated highly and there is provision to fit one each side. This is what i would do then when stuck fast use a bridle to centralise the pull between the two.
At the rear the tow bar is as good an attachment point as any, but a pin hitch is better than just dropping the eye over the tow ball. A 3/4" shackle fits over the shank of the tow ball and will not pull up over the ball, this is a much better way of attaching the rope.
As Marky says there is a huge amount of kinetic energy stored in the rope when pulling out a stuck vehicle, if the rope or towpoints are not up to the job then serious accidents can happen. When something gives way it's amazing how quick the end of the rope comes back towards you.
Not trying to scare anyone, just lay out the facts. The most important thing to do is have some good safe fun! _________________ Isuzu Trooper SWB 3.0DT Commercial |

Hi
I went for the 10.5 ton rope for £20. I hope i wont need it though. Thanks Webby for the advise, i have towed before and seen a couple of ropes snap so will be keeping well away from the end. (Worked on Farms when i was younger) |

Coming from a farming back ground seen a few spectacular recoils after a chain had snapped on a lovely old County when recovering another tractor, very dangerous. We have even pulled the front axle off a few times, now that's embarrassing, with the tractor with it's nose in the dirt. _________________ Every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff from out of my brain.

Throwing an old coat over the rope or the wire if winching can save a lot of damage if it snaps, it kills the recoil _________________ |

Sound advice Mark, but it's remarkable how blasé people become to the dangers off a recoiling shackle. _________________ Every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff from out of my brain.
