OK my 3.1 is very sluggish. I have changed main fuel filter and done all the normal things. It has a new turbo on and still struggles to pull a car trailer with a beach buggy on. Couldn't get into 5th gear as it just died on me. 60 mph flat out in 4th. I have heard about a secondary fuel filter, where is it please?

as far as i know they were never fitted with a secondary fuel filter

if your engine is sluggish you may need to look at timing or exhaust warm up throttle or egr valves ????? valve clearances air leaks in the intake gas leaks from turbo and or gaskets worn fuel injectionpump sticking injectors quite a lot of things it could be

is there any smoke if so what colour???

Not such a daft idea, does it struggle without the trailer on? If not then I'd go through the trailer and make sure it doesn't have a sticking brake, I leave the handbrake on my Ifor Williams off and just chock the wheel with a rock at home as they tend to stick. It could also be iffy wheel bearings on the trailer as well.

try bp ultimate diesel it may be better.there are some that would say 70 is good for a 3.1 but not me, i think it should go faster than that this is the best engine isuzu has made in my mind.

Tank filters are a rough one, if it get clogged its best to take the pickup out and remove the gunge, if its blown back with an airline the gunge will just come back to haunt.

Make sure the exhaust hasn't been squished off road anywhere.

Hmmm you could have hit the nail on the head there. It has got a brand new exhaust fitted. Wonder if that is the problem.

TBH I've been having power loss problems with mine since I've had a new exhaust fitted, could be coincidence but once the new fuel tank goes in I've eliminated everything apart from a duff injector/pump. The guy at the exhaust fitters (who I've used for years) reckons they're lucky if they get a duff exhaust every two or three years, but I'm stil a little sceptical.
