Hello
My 3.0 trooper is stalling. It runs for a short time then stalls and wont restart. It's seems better facing down hill than up. If I leave it for a good while it runs again, sounds spot on then struggles and dies.
I think it's sucking in air, but it's a guess. I can't see any obvious leak points, but the weathers not been much good for rolling around outside on the floor.
I did try putting a disposable glove over the primer pump incase it was that, but it did seem to work.
What do you think? Any clues where to start.
Thanks for any help

Had the same issue, it was the oil pickup pipe/strainer
in the sump had broken off. Would run for a few mins, then stall as air got in the high pressure oil way and the
injectors could not fire.
Then very hard if not impossible to start.
Sometimes if I got it going AND THE OIL WARMED up it would run ok. Eithan had mentioned similar behaviour in a post is what put me on to it.
Overfill it 1.5 litres above max and see what happens ?
Do not leave it permanently that way. |

I PMed Ethan as hes the mechanic I use. He agreed with you about the strainer. I will drop the sump and take a look as it needs an oil change.
I dont suppose you know what size Oring I need? I could use silicone, but farting about under a car in a subzero temp isn't fun, an Oring might be faster.
Thanks

Try the extra oil first to confirm this is the problem.

Hi J,
On mine it cracked off below the O ring which should still be there hopefully?
Miserable job unless you let the oil drain down out of the crankcase for a few hours after removing the Sump. |
