hi all, expect this has been asked before, ( have searched and can't find) I've been off roading for 10 years plus, disco's & pajero, so I know what to expect from laning, but family life has required me to change to a pick up! 05 rodeo 3.1 auto, does anyone use these off road? any good? and do they have a centre diff lock ?

Only Landrovers have a centre diff  Wink

Japanese 4x4's have a transfer box in the middle that means for the most of the time you are in 2wd (rear driven). You activate the 4wd system and the transfer box (bolted to the back of the gearbox) that engags the front axle via a forward propshaft (much like your Pajero). Just don't use the 4wd on tarmac or any other grippy road as the transfer box has no differential mechanism. That means the front drive at the same speed as the rears. Not good when cornering as it puts a tortional strain on the system. This starin is lost when off road as one wheel will tend to slip slightly to lose that strain.

As for off road you can expect it to be as good as any other. Isuzu built their trucks with mud plugging in mind and so long as you have the right tyres for the terrain expect no less than any other off road vehicle.
